Our global team includes researchers, engineers, designers, and domain experts who are deeply passionate about their work, headquartered in Toronto with multiple worldwide offices.
Role Overview
In this position, you will be involved in creating and supporting the data infrastructure powering some of the most demanding AI training workloads globally. Your responsibility will be to engineer and sustain the high-performance data layers critical for training and evaluation used by our Modeling teams.
Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate closely on a daily basis with leading researchers and engineers to achieve high-impact results.
Candidate Profile
- At least 4 years of experience in working with data storage infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Python programming language.
- Experience working with Kubernetes storage components such as Persistent Volumes and CSI drivers.
- Ability to convert unstructured data into highly performant datasets across multiple storage backends including S3, GCS, and POSIX file systems.
- Familiarity with distributed data processing tools like Apache Beam, Spark, or Flink.
- Preferred but not mandatory: Knowledge of modern analytics tools including BigQuery, Airflow, or dbt.
- Strong enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, including keeping up with relevant research and enjoying deep technical engagement.
- A passion for developing innovative solutions and pushing technologies beyond current standards rather than merely optimizing existing ones.
Employee Benefits
- Weekly lunch allowance equivalent to $75 or £75 in local currency.
- Comprehensive health and dental coverage, including allocated funds for mental health support.
- Retirement plan contributions such as RRSP matching, 401K, or Pension Schemes.
- Full parental leave top-up for up to 6 months applicable to any parent.
- Annual enrichment budgets for arts, culture, wellness, quality time, workspace improvements, education, conferences, courses, and coaching.
- Generous paid vacation totaling 6 weeks or 30 working days per year.
- Travel allowances for remote employees to visit other offices and participation in annual company-wide offsite events.
Work Environment and Logistics
- The company supports a remote-friendly working style with physical offices located in cities such as Toronto, London, New York, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, and Seoul.
- Office-based employees benefit from daily lunch programs, snacks, and diverse community and social gatherings.
- Remote workers receive coworking space support within their regions and a $500 stipend to enhance their home office setup.

Cohere is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds. Accommodation requests during recruitment can be made through a formalized process to ensure equitable access. The recruitment process may utilize AI-driven tools to screen candidates, but this does not restrict human review. The company warns against scams; all authentic job openings and communications come exclusively through official Cohere channels or emails with @cohere.com or @cw.cohere domains.
