Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing Broking Operations team to drive the development of Howden Bridge, our online quote-and-bind platform. This position involves hands-on work to shape the technology behind a key digital platform, working closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Broking, Underwriting, Solutions, and Architecture.

As the Software Engineer, you will take full ownership of software development for Howden Bridge, spanning solution design, coding, testing, and deployment. Your tasks will include developing new features, products, and integrations aligned with our digital distribution goals, designing secure and scalable software, resolving complex production issues, guiding fellow engineers, and contributing to the platform's long-term technical roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new functionalities and integrations supporting Howden’s digital strategy.
• Collaborate with various teams to translate business needs into technology solutions.
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and user-centric.
• Troubleshoot and resolve challenging production defects.
• Provide technical mentorship and help enhance engineering standards.
• Participate in shaping the future technical vision for Howden Bridge and related digital products.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in commercial software development across the entire lifecycle.
• Proficient in building web applications, APIs, and system integrations.
• Strong problem-solving skills with accountability for delivering technical results.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Good knowledge of software architecture, security considerations, and industry best practices.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or regulated environments is beneficial but not mandatory.
