Job description
Overview
Join the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Node Lifecycle team at Microsoft in New Zealand, where you will play a crucial role in managing Kubernetes nodes, ensuring customers always have the latest Kubernetes and Azure features, security, and compliance. This role offers you an opportunity to deepen your Kubernetes expertise and contribute to integrating advanced AI hardware access through AKS, enabling customers to develop their own training environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize operating system images for AKS nodes using automation tools such as Packer.
- Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines that build, test, and publish virtual hard disk (VHD) images.
- Administer complex GPU and network driver installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for multiple GPU types within AKS nodes.
- Improve node provisioning performance and resolve related technical issues.
- Implement security protocols and maintain compliance with industry and organizational security standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams, documenting processes and system configurations comprehensively.
- Monitor system health, respond promptly to incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure the reliability and stability of AKS node infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical fields, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least one year of hands-on experience in two or more of the following areas: Linux or Unix-like server environments, Windows server environments, containerization technologies (including Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms), and management of cloud services, preferably on Microsoft Azure or similar platforms.
- Capability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other required security screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline with at least one year of technical engineering experience, including proficiency in coding languages such as Golang, C++, C#, or Python.
- Experience of at least one year with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools and workflows using platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Experience working collaboratively on medium to large software projects actively maintained by multiple engineers.
