Software Engineer - Agentic Orchestration

This position is based in Galway, Ireland, with an expectation to work onsite two to three days per week. As a Backend-focused Software Engineer on the Agentic Orchestration team, you will develop systems that transform customer intent into actionable outcomes, leveraging reasoning across journey states, policies, and goals to drive optimal next steps involving AI agents, systems, and humans.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop backend services enabling an AI-assisted authoring environment that converts natural language input into structured, machine-readable plans guiding orchestration decision-making at runtime.
• Integrate large language models to both produce and automatically validate these plans, managing structured data, nondeterministic outputs, and schema enforcement to ensure completeness and consistency.
• Work across diverse internal services to discover and present components for plan creation, standardizing heterogeneous data into a unified model.
• Lead features end-to-end in an agile setup, collaborating closely with multiple stakeholders to align design and deployment.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or related disciplines, with at least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in backend service development using Java or Python, including REST API design, object-oriented and functional programming concepts, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience integrating backend systems with large language models, handling structured outputs, retries, malformed responses, and nondeterministic behavior.
• Competence in integrating multiple services, including authentication and pagination, with data normalization from varied sources.
• Strong background in RESTful API development, microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and Git version control systems.
• Effective communication skills with a track record of fostering stakeholder consensus and thriving in agile, collaborative environments with active code review participation.

Preferred but Not Required Skills

• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) for building servers and exposing tools for internal service integration.
• Understanding of agentic orchestration concepts, including state management, tool integration, and planning loops.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks or testing strategies for non-deterministic or AI-driven systems.
