The Software Engineer role involves working on North, Cohere's innovative AI workspace platform engineered to transform how enterprises leverage AI. North provides a secure, customizable environment enabling organizations to deploy AI while safeguarding sensitive data. It integrates seamlessly with existing enterprise workflows, connecting AI agents to workplace tools and applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver new features for the North AI workspace platform.
• Develop autonomous agents interacting with confidential enterprise data.
• Write efficient, minimal code optimized for execution in resource-constrained environments with stringent deployment constraints.
• Address security and privacy challenges, often requiring novel implementations beyond standard libraries or tools.
• Collaborate with research teams to deploy cutting-edge AI models and techniques into production.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of two years professional experience in software engineering.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience shipping fullstack applications using Python and React in production environments.
• Ability to excel in fast-moving, dynamic work settings with shifting priorities.
• Experience working in both large enterprise and startup environments.
• Strong programming skills with the ability to work across the full stack.
• Capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in codebases beyond primary responsibilities.
• Experience building and deploying performant client-side or server-side Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or agentic applications serving millions of users.
• Bonus: A passion for art, design sensibility, creativity, and a portfolio or public project showcases such as GitHub.

The technology stack includes Python, TypeScript with React, Postgres, and Kubernetes. Emphasis is placed on fundamental skills, product insight, initiative, and adaptability over exact prior tech experience.

Compensation
