Job description

About the Role

Join us to influence the future landscape of entertainment by shaping how Amazon customers experience movies and television. Prime Video, a leading streaming service available in over 240 countries and territories, offers an extensive selection of TV shows, movies including Amazon Originals, exclusive content, live sports, and flexible subscription and purchasing options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the device certification team ensuring seamless Prime Video streaming on a vast range of living room devices such as TVs, set-top boxes, and game consoles used by hundreds of millions worldwide.
  • Handle operational support to prevent third-party device software updates from affecting the streaming experience.
  • Design, develop, and maintain tools enabling device manufacturers to install, test, and monitor Prime Video service performance across millions of devices.
  • Automate the current manual certification and support workflows by leveraging Generative AI to introduce new, efficient processes.
  • Drive career development of team members, facilitating training and skill transitions from support engineering to software engineering as automation replaces manual operations.

About the Team

The Device Certification team collaborates directly with third-party device manufacturers and distributors like Samsung, LG, and Sony, verifying that Prime Video functions smoothly on living room devices globally. The team builds and supports tools for internal and external engineers to certify proper operation and monitor devices.

Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of software, hardware, and network development lifecycle engineering practices, including coding standards, code reviews, version control, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
  • Proven experience leading the design and development of multi-tier web services.
  • Prior experience managing engineering teams.
  • Strong skills in designing and architecting software systems with a focus on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
  • Experience collaborating with product and program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Effective communication with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements and articulate product features, technical designs, and strategy.
  • Experience in recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams to improve their effectiveness and professional growth.
