Job description
Overview
Join the team responsible for powering the Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablets Appstore, serving millions of customers who discover, purchase, and enjoy digital content. As a Software Development Manager in the Appstore Developer Experience team, you will guide the redevelopment of the developer interface, including new APIs for third-party developers to manage their applications and games, as well as oversee the web platform and mobile app utilized by thousands of developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team focused on enhancing developer experience across multiple operating systems such as Fire OS and Vega OS, spanning devices like TVs, tablets, and multimodal products including the Echo Show.
- Develop and sustain APIs that enable developers to efficiently test and submit their apps to the Appstore.
- Oversee AI-native product-oriented development teams driving swift innovation and cultural change.
- Ensure mission-critical testing workflows achieve extremely high reliability levels (99.99%).
- Collaborate closely with product management, business intelligence, developer relations, and external third-party developers.
- Mentor and grow a talented team of over 10 engineers working on large-scale distributed systems.
- Define technical roadmaps for future experiences on emerging Amazon devices.
- Resolve complex challenges involving scalability, security, compliance, and user experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams.
- Over 8 years of experience leading design and development of multi-tier web services.
- Comprehensive understanding of software, hardware, and network development lifecycle, including best practices such as coding standards, code reviews, source control, build automation, testing, certification, and live site operations.
- Experience collaborating with product or program management functions.
- Strong architectural skills with hands-on experience in designing reliable and scalable new and existing systems.
Preferred Skills
- Proficient in communicating technical designs, product features, and strategies effectively to users, technical teams, and senior leadership.
- Experienced in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams to enhance their skill sets and productivity.
