Role Overview

We are seeking a Developer with a focus on improving reliability for the Device Trust authentication service. This role involves software engineering combined with enhancing system reliability and operational excellence. You will maintain production code, enhance observability and resilience, and support the safe evolution of critical application components that play a key role in our customers’ authentication workflows by incorporating device posture into access decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance services powering Device Trust.
• Advance reliability, observability, and operational efficiency of production systems via software development and automation.
• Engage with application code, service dependencies, cloud infrastructure, networking, deployment, and operational tools.
• Contribute to establishing safer procedures for modifying and validating changes to vital systems.
• Participate in incident response activities and convert lessons learned into continuous improvements.
• Collaborate across Device Trust, Platform, Security, and other engineering teams to mitigate risks, reduce operational obstacles, and improve customer experiences.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with backend services, APIs, distributed systems, or other software where uptime and reliability are critical.
• Demonstrated ownership of defined problems from analysis through implementation and resolution.
• Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails framework.
• Experience using observability tools to monitor system health and debug issues; familiarity with Datadog is advantageous.
• Commitment to writing clear, maintainable code and thorough documentation.
• Strong communication skills to share progress, identify blockers early, and clarify outcomes to stakeholders.

Bonus Skills

• Exposure to Kubernetes container orchestration.
• Proficiency with Datadog monitoring platform.
• Experience using infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Working with AI

Our teams are integrating AI thoughtfully throughout development, including AI-assisted coding tools to speed reviews and bug detection, AI-driven user research synthesis for product management, and AI-generated design mockups. We uphold strict human oversight, security principles, and careful evaluation prior to releasing AI-powered features.

Compensation and Benefits

For Canadian residents, the salary range is CAD 111,000 to CAD 155,000 annually, complemented by a generous health and dental benefits package, RRSP matching, paid time off, equity awards, and access to other incentive programs. We emphasize fair pay aligned with market standards and experience.
