Software Developer II

Job Overview

We are looking for a Software Developer II to join our Application Development team in Montreal. This role is client-facing and involves independently delivering work, writing and maintaining production Python code, creating automated tests, and documenting processes within an Agile framework. Collaboration with clients and colleagues is essential, and international travel up to 20% is expected. The current working arrangement is hybrid with two days per week onsite in Montreal.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned Jira tickets as part of Agile development cycles
• Develop, debug, and maintain Python-based software
• Create and sustain automated tests using tools like Gherkin/Behave
• Document technical specifications and processes in Confluence
• Engage directly with clients to clarify requirements and troubleshoot issues
• Use Git/GitLab for version control and participate in peer code reviews
• Communicate and coordinate activities using Slack and Jira
• Participate in international travel supporting project needs up to 20% of the time

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• At least 2 years of professional software development experience
• Proficient hands-on experience coding in Python
• Familiarity with Git/GitLab version control, Linux environment, and Bash scripting
• Experience working with XML and JSON data formats
• Understanding of Agile methodologies using tools like Jira and Confluence
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal, for client communications
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment from Montreal office and travel internationally as required

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Oracle databases
• Proficiency in behavior-driven testing using Gherkin/Behave
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cowork
• Background in client-facing consulting or professional services
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in distributed teams
• Interest or enthusiasm in aviation or piloting
