About Corlann West Region
Corlann is recruiting for two permanent full-time Social Care Workers to join Spraoi Children’s Respite Service, located in Roscommon town. This service supports children aged 6 to 18 years with diverse needs including autism, physical disabilities, medical requirements, and behavioral challenges.
Role Overview
The Social Care Worker will act as a key worker providing support to children and young people in a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include personal care such as assisting with meals and hygiene, leading shifts when needed, and working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain compliance with HIQA standards.
Reporting Structure
The role reports to the Team Leader, Service Coordinator, and Sector Manager.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Registration on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU, or eligibility under Section 91 (existing practitioner) with evidence of application status.
- Possession of a full clean manual driving license valid for Irish roads is essential; acquiring a Class D1 driving license may be required with support provided.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
Experience Preferences
- Desirable experience includes working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors.
- Experience with goal setting and implementing person-centred programs.
- Experience functioning within a team and occasionally leading shifts.

Working Hours
- Two permanent full-time positions, totaling 78 hours per fortnight, organized on a 14-day duty roster.
- Will include work during days, weekends, public holidays, night duties, and sleep-ins as needed to fulfill service requirements.
- Flexible scheduling is necessary to meet Personal Outcome Measures standards.
Leave and Benefits
- Annual leave entitlement is 22 days pro rata with additional service-related leave after 5 and 10 years.
Compensation
- Salary follows the Department of Health Social Care Worker scale effective 01/06/2026, ranging from €41,260 to €56,717 (pro rata per annum), with a long service increment of €57,789 after three years on maximum scale.
- Extra payments for weekends, public holidays, and night shifts worked.
- Salary based on a 39-hour work week with incremental credit for verified prior public sector service.
Tenure and Probation
- Positions are permanent, full-time, and pensionable.
- A probation period of nine months applies, during which employment may be terminated if suitability is not confirmed; this may be extended at the employer’s discretion.
