Job description

Overview

We are hiring a Social Care Assistant for permanent full-time roles based in County Kildare. The position involves supporting adults over 18 years with intellectual disabilities, helping them engage actively in the community through diverse programs such as supported employment and daily activities. The remuneration follows the HSE Care Assistant Salary Scale ranging from €17.20 to €23.88 per hour dependent on experience.

Key Duties

  • Contribute to the development and review of Individual Support Plans for service users.
  • Assist individuals in achieving their personal goals to improve quality of life.
  • Plan and help prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide comprehensive daily living support including personal care and addressing complex needs or challenging behaviors.
  • Facilitate access to healthcare providers to meet individuals' medical needs.
  • Encourage participation in household tasks while maintaining hygiene standards across living environments.
  • Maintain effective communication with family members to involve them in ongoing care.
  • Operate Kare vehicles to assist service users as necessary.

Note: Assignment location may change based on service requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum qualification of Level 5 in Intellectual Disability Practice, Social Care, or Community Support Worker Programme, with at least three modules completed including Intellectual Disability.
  • Mandatory possession of a full, clean manual Irish driving license.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland without requiring sponsorship.
  • Experience and strong understanding of supporting individuals displaying challenging behaviors using positive behavior support methods.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, organizational skills, and ability to show initiative.
  • Proficiency in IT skills necessary for administrative duties such as email correspondence, report writing, and assistive technology use.
  • Ability to form respectful and trusting relationships with those supported.
  • Comfortable working independently with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
