Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital (SSBZH) is a cutting-edge medical center in Abu Dhabi's Northern Emirates. Supported by M42’s network of expertise and technologies — including Imperial College London Diabetes Centre and Mubadala Health Dubai — it focuses on improving health outcomes and accessibility for military personnel, their families, and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute diagnostic and therapeutic sleep assessments such as Polysomnography (PSG), PAP titration, split-night tests, MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, oxygen titration, and portable monitoring according to protocols.
- Assess patient medical history, confirm orders, and prepare patients by educating them on procedures, devices, and condition management.
- Apply electrodes and sensors using the 10-20 EEG system, conduct physiological and equipment calibrations, and ensure artifact-free, high-quality signals compliant with AASM standards.
- Continuously oversee patients during studies, note clinical findings, and address patient safety and care requirements promptly.
- Score sleep stages and clinical events, including respiratory, limb movement, cardiac events, and arousals. Prepare precise sleep study reports adhering to AASM norms.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sleep laboratory instruments; ensure cleanliness and schedule servicing with biomedical engineering as needed.
- Conduct supplementary patient assessments like arterial blood gases (ABGs), non-invasive PAP evaluations, and CO₂ monitoring (EtCO₂ or TcCO₂).
- Maintain proper documentation, ensure accurate billing and coding, and comply with organizational, regulatory, and infection control protocols.
- Support quality enhancement, research activities, and program growth within sleep medicine services.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy or nursing, or at least two years of certified respiratory therapy training.
- Possession of one of the following certifications: Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM), or Sleep Disorders Specialty Examination accredited by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience following qualification.
- Valid medical license from DOH, DHA, or MOH.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
