Role Summary

The RiskPS BizOps team seeks a Site Reliability Engineer II to enhance automation, problem-solve, and apply best practices. This role suits someone with a natural curiosity about how systems operate, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for minimizing manual tasks via automation. The position demands collaboration across development, operations, and product teams to advance SRE transformation at Mastercard.

Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all stages of service lifecycles—from conceptualization and design through deployment and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze IT service management platform activities to identify operational weaknesses and relay actionable feedback to development teams.
  • Contribute to pre-launch activities, including system design consultation, capacity planning, and launch assessments.
  • Oversee live services by monitoring availability, response times, and overall system health.
  • Enhance scalability through automation and advocate for system modifications that boost reliability and efficiency.
  • Implement sustainable incident response procedures and conduct blameless postmortems for continuous learning.
  • Approach production troubleshooting holistically to reduce recovery times by connecting insights across diverse systems.
  • Collaborate closely with a global team spanning multiple geographical centers and time zones.
  • Mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge and providing guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline involving programming (such as physics or mathematics), or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Preferred experience within financial sectors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities to manage and prioritize tasks in response to evolving business needs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including collaboration and customer-centric focus.
  • Between one to three years of experience working with UNIX operating systems, scripting languages, Oracle databases, and SQL.
  • Proven ability to handle challenging situations and make timely decisions under pressure.
  • Desirable experience in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.
  • Interest in designing, analyzing, and debugging expansive distributed systems.
  • Strong enthusiasm for driving change and pushing the limits of automation while managing priorities jointly with development, operations, and product teams.

Security Responsibilities

  • Adhere strictly to Mastercard’s information security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of accessed information.
  • Report any suspected security breaches immediately.
  • Complete mandatory periodic security training as required by Mastercard.
