Overview
Join the Global E-commerce Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at TikTok USDS Joint Venture, Sydney. This role involves direct ownership of service reliability and infrastructure for a critical, revenue-driving E-commerce platform within a cloud-native environment. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to build highly available, scalable, and observable systems on a global scale.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the uptime and operational health of core TikTok E-commerce services and their supporting infrastructure.
- Establish and maintain service-level indicators (SLIs) and service-level objectives (SLOs) to enhance latency, availability, and overall system performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to carry out capacity planning, launch readiness, and ensure transparent service delivery to end users.
- Develop automation tools centered on infrastructure-as-code principles to promote scalability and system resiliency.
- Adopt Site Reliability Engineering practices including incident response, root cause analysis through post-mortems, and participate in on-call rotations for production support.
Qualifications
Essential
- Solid knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system internals and network protocols.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, or equivalent.
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, software design, and complexity analysis.
- Experience creating software tools and APIs to minimize manual interactions with systems, applying diverse coding and scripting standards.
- Logical problem-solving skills paired with clear communication and a motivated attitude.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience running production-grade web services at scale within cloud-native infrastructures.
- Expertise in deploying comprehensive observability frameworks, including monitoring, logging, and tracing within complex service meshes.
- Deep understanding of designing, analyzing, and debugging complex distributed systems.
