Role Overview

With a robust workload in Auckland, Cook Brothers seeks an experienced Site Manager to lead projects from initiation to completion. This position demands a collaborative leader able to mentor site personnel and subcontractors while coordinating closely with Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers on both commercial and upscale residential projects. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a dedication to excellence and teamwork.

Key Duties

  • Plan and oversee construction programs strategically to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Maintain excellent client and stakeholder relationships to uphold high service standards.
  • Lead and support the site team and trades on and off site to meet project requirements.
  • Identify risks early and apply effective solutions to mitigate issues.
  • Submit regular reports on health and safety, quality, cost controls, and budget management.
  • Achieve predefined Key Performance Objectives for each project.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant policies, procedures, codes, and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractor performance for optimal project outcomes.
  • Mentor and coach team members towards high-quality, timely, and budget-conformant deliverables.
  • Conduct and lead meetings on site, including toolbox talks.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in site management within New Zealand or Australia.
  • At least five years of experience managing commercial construction sites.
  • Experience with structural construction is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning and program management.
  • Background in commercial building projects.
  • Experience in high-end residential construction is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team recognition and morale.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, including handling difficult conversations professionally.
  • Leadership in promoting a proactive health and safety culture.
