Role Overview

We seek an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Queenstown team. This position suits professionals who relish managing complex engineering problems, collaborating effectively, and witnessing their designs realized on-site. You will contribute technical expertise that influences projects from initial design through to completion in a supportive, appreciative environment. Key Duties

  • Lead structural design, engineering calculations, and analysis across diverse commercial projects.
  • Design and coordinate structural systems involving concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and temporary works.
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, documents, and reports.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with structural plans and regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams throughout all stages.
  • Identify structural risks proactively and develop practical, cost-efficient solutions.
  • Ensure all structural work complies with the New Zealand Building Code and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and problem-solving assistance to project teams and technical staff.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Qualification in Structural Engineering and Chartered Professional Engineer status (CPEng).
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in structural design within commercial construction.
  • Strong expertise in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry construction methods.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and CAD tools.
  • Advanced analytical abilities and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Experience managing design consultants and technical teams.
  • Detail-focused approach coupled with independent and team-working capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand building codes, safety protocols, and industry standards.
