Role Overview

As a Short Mix Technician based in Lethbridge, Alberta, you will be responsible for operating various equipment involved in the manufacturing and shipping of animal feed. You will work under the guidance of the Production Supervisor, adhering strictly to operational policies and safety procedures to ensure safe and efficient plant operations that minimize hazards and environmental impact. Your duties will involve both independent and teamwork aspects, with interactions including customers, supervisors, plant staff, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and manage machinery such as batching mixers, pellet mills, grinders, and grain cleaners to produce animal feed products.
• Receive ingredients delivered by truck and maintain accurate inventory tracking.
• Ensure all manufactured products comply with specifications and HACCP standards.
• Plan and schedule production runs according to customer orders and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) guidelines.
• Uphold all safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a clean and safe work environment at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in Canada and minimum age of 18 years.
• Physical ability to perform job tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without accommodation.
• Capability to work under varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, dust, and noise with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Comfort working at heights of four feet or more.
• Experience operating machinery or industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or on rotating shifts when required.
• Basic mechanical and maintenance skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Forklift operation experience.
• Basic computer literacy.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

Compensation

The role offers a compensation of $23.00 per hour with a rotating shift schedule.
