Job Overview and Impact
The role of Platform Engineer focuses on maintaining and collaborating in the design and development of digital technology infrastructure that supports IT applications and services. Under limited supervision, the individual works with cross-functional teams to implement new software functionalities addressing user and business requirements, while also enhancing existing platforms by improving their effectiveness and features. This involves writing clean, efficient, and scalable code, as well as diagnosing and resolving moderately challenging technical issues. Participation in code reviews ensures high quality standards and knowledge sharing within the platform engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop software of high quality through writing maintainable and efficient code.
- Automate deployment processes by utilizing internal software deployment platforms, continuous integration/delivery pipelines, and adhering to twelve-factor app development principles to facilitate reliable releases.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to interpret moderately complex requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Create and maintain unit and integration tests of moderate complexity, perform debugging tasks to uphold software quality and performance, applying test-driven development approaches when necessary.
- Identify and recommend improvements to software development and deployment workflows, executing approved enhancements to increase process efficiency and reliability.
- Develop and keep up-to-date comprehensive documentation concerning software applications, deployment procedures, and system configurations with moderate complexity.
- Offer technical assistance and troubleshoot moderately difficult issues in deployed applications to minimize downtime and expedite problem resolution.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience is required, with typical candidates having 3 or more years in similar roles.
