Position Overview

We offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity as a Shift Engineer at our Pukeuri Plant. This role operates within a close-knit team of four, working on 12-hour shifts (06:00 to 18:00) to guarantee 24/7 refrigeration support. Flexibility is essential, including weekend shifts and on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the ammonia refrigeration plant and site utilities to maintain continuous and safe operations.
  • Ensure compliance by preparing and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Provide maintenance and engineering support to sustain plant reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain effective communication within the team.

Candidate Profile

We seek practical individuals who prioritize safety and have strong problem-solving abilities. You should be motivated, mechanically skilled, and eager to work in a dynamic industrial setting where no two days are alike.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Refrigeration.
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and SCADA/industrial automation platforms.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and ongoing improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Additional Advantages

  • NZQA Unit Standard 3847 certification.

  • Training in Confined Space entry and Permit to Work processes.
