Role Overview

The Shift Electrician is a vital member of the maintenance team, delivering world-class maintenance services across the facility under the supervision of the Shift Maintenance Lead. This role involves executing both scheduled and emergency maintenance, supporting smaller projects and enhancements, preparing work reports, and offering specialized electrical assistance for production and other departments.

Success in this role requires a hands-on approach with most time spent on the production floor addressing equipment breakdowns, identifying enhancements, and managing minor projects. Proficiency in automation, including PLC programming, motor wiring, and sensor troubleshooting, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal line reliability and efficiency.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical machinery and systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, focusing on three-phase motors, sensors, and automation equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot automation systems including PLCs, VSDs, and HMIs.
• Program PLCs and handle wiring and sensor troubleshooting tasks.
• Comply with all health, safety, and regulatory standards during work execution.
• Support production and site services through troubleshooting, staff training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with maintenance colleagues and input labor and work orders using the Mainpac system.
• Contribute to sustainability goals by managing water, gas, electricity, and waste efficiently.
• Exemplify adherence to the company’s Health and Safety policies.
• Familiarity with Rockwell automation software for fault-finding is advantageous.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must hold an EWRB license and be FF Trade qualified.
• Experience working in the food or beverage sector.
• Previous employment in a similar electrician role.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Positive and supportive team attitude.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
• Effective communication with both production and technical teams.
• Adherence to processes and procedures.
• Certified in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), or willingness to obtain certification within the first month.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• NZQA Level 4 qualification in Electrical Engineering and EWRB registration.
• Proven relevant work experience.

Work Schedule and Location

Location: King Street, Hastings, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.

Shift: Night shift from 10pm to 6am.
