Senior/Staff Signal Integrity Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior/Staff Signal Integrity Engineer to take on complex SI and PI challenges within internationally dispersed teams. The role focuses on supporting signal integrity and power integrity signoff processes across chip, package, and PCB designs to ensure timely product delivery across diverse product lines. This position involves collaboration with design, testing, place & route, and applications teams worldwide to model high-speed chip I/O interfaces and power delivery networks. Additional duties include assisting customers with hardware design signoff and troubleshooting SI/PI issues that arise from system-level constraints, as well as contributing to the definition of electrical performance specifications for products. There may also be tasks related to modeling and simulating electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) phenomena.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead SI/PI signoff efforts on chip, package, and PCB designs (approx. 70% of role).
• Develop and apply modeling techniques for high-speed input/output interfaces and power distribution networks.
• Provide expert customer support in PCB design validation and debugging signal integrity and power integrity problems.
• Define product electrical performance specifications related to high-speed I/O (about 30% of role).
• Perform electromagnetic compatibility-related modeling and simulation.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience specializing in signal and power integrity.
• Strong foundation in electromagnetic theory, transmission line principles, and microwave engineering.
• Proficient with SI/PI design workflows, including both time domain and frequency domain modeling and simulation.
• Understanding of phase-locked loops (PLL), equalization, clock data recovery (CDR), jitter, noise phenomena, IBIS modeling, and 8b10b encoding techniques.
• Hands-on experience using test lab instruments such as high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
• Expertise with SI/PI simulation software from vendors like ANSYS, Cadence, and Keysight.
• Ability to process and analyze data through scripting with Python, Matlab, or similar programming languages.
• Familiarity with MIPI standards including D-PHY, C-PHY, and PAM-4 signaling is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills with a collaborative team-oriented approach.
• Fluency in Chinese is mandatory to coordinate effectively with teammates based in China.
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant technical discipline.
