Role Overview

The Senior/Staff Product Manager will focus on Partly Rails, a critical infrastructure platform that manages transactional flows covering job lifecycle events such as estimation, procurement, reconciliation, and closure. This role encompasses building and managing external APIs, version governance, developer portals, and nurturing a global developer ecosystem to facilitate third-party integrations without requiring frequent direct involvement from Partly. The position is a platform product management role emphasizing scalable, auditable, and reliable API-driven infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the transactional job flow platform, ensuring it is designed with strong opinions, scalable at high volume, and attractive as a value proposition for integrators.
• Lead the external API program, establishing governance, version policies, and standards for integrations.
• Develop and maintain the developer portal, including documentation, tooling, and sandbox environments to streamline integration onboarding and production deployment.
• Grow and manage Partly's developer ecosystem by identifying, activating, and retaining integration partners worldwide.
• Adapt APIs to support emerging AI consumption patterns, ensuring autonomous and context-aware agent interoperability.
• Set and monitor key metrics relating to API coverage, adoption rates, uptime, latency, developer satisfaction, integration depth, and ecosystem growth.
• Define and refine product visions, roadmaps, and metrics, ensuring alignment with go-to-market strategies.
• Maintain regular communication with developers and partners for ongoing feedback and to distinguish between requested features and actual needs.
• Prototype and iterate on API experiences and developer tooling rapidly, leveraging AI-assisted development and LLM tools.
• Collaborate closely with engineering leads to balance platform capabilities, developer experience, and sustainable operations.
• Lead communication of API changes and deprecations clearly and in advance to partners.
• Design APIs from the perspective of agentic consumption, focusing on reliability, observability, failure modes, and context fidelity.
• Establish high standards for API design, documentation, and developer experience organization-wide.

Candidate Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience owning and managing developer-facing API products, including design, version control, governance, and lifecycle management.
• Experience in building and scaling developer ecosystems, such as partner programs, integration networks, or developer communities.
• Deep knowledge of developer experience as a product discipline, including efficient onboarding, comprehensive documentation, and tooling maturity.
• Strong commercial and technical acumen, with the ability to engage with engineering teams and translate developer needs into business outcomes.
• Minimum 5 years of accountable experience managing platform or infrastructure products focused on adoption metrics.
• Proficiency in rapidly prototyping solutions independently utilizing AI or LLM-assisted development tools.
• A strong analytical mindset with the capability to define metrics, build dashboards, analyze logs, and make data-driven decisions without dependency on data teams.

Desirable Experience

• Knowledge of designing APIs optimized for AI agent or LLM usage beyond traditional system integrations.
• Familiarity with transactional or workflow APIs in domains like payments, logistics, supply chain, or insurance.
• Experience running partner or ISV programs at scale.
• Background in managing API reliability, observability, and non-functional requirements as a product focus.
• Founding or early-stage experience at platform-first startups with substantial scaling.
• Proven willingness to challenge or pivot on previously held beliefs or projects.
