Position Summary

The role of Senior/Principal NAND Device Engineer within the Device Technology Development team involves advancing next-generation NAND flash memory by integrating device physics with array performance and product needs. This is a unique opportunity to influence fundamental device behavior and system-level memory solutions deployed worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain profound understanding of NAND memory cell physics, variability, and reliability across various technology generations and designs.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of electrical data from memory arrays and test structures to pinpoint limitations and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Translate fundamental device insights to guide cell design, manufacturing process refinement, and array operation improvement.
  • Lead device-array synergistic optimization, focusing on threshold voltage placement, control of distribution, and sensing margin enhancement.
  • Develop and optimize algorithms, waveform strategies, and calibration techniques to boost performance, yield, and device dependability.
  • Address complex system challenges including interference, data retention, endurance, and balancing read/write margins.
  • Collaborate extensively with process integration, cell design, testing, and product engineering teams across global sites such as Singapore, Boise, and India.
  • Provide actionable feedback on fabrication experiments, linking process variables to electrical and system-level effects.
  • Engage in cross-functional troubleshooting, yield enhancement, and technology ramp-up activities.
  • Contribute to definition and scaling plans for upcoming NAND technologies and invent new device or algorithmic techniques to tackle scaling hurdles.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making through statistical analysis, modeling, and handling comprehensive datasets.
  • Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to extract insights from large datasets, automate workflows, and improve predictive analyses related to device characterization and reliability.
  • Collaborate with data science teams to develop scalable AI-driven tools and workflows, advancing AI-assisted engineering and smart manufacturing initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of semiconductor devices and underlying principles.
  • Analytical skills to effectively interpret electrical measurement data and trends.
  • Effective communication abilities and experience working cooperatively in multicultural, multi-site teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience or academic work involving non-volatile memory technologies, especially NAND flash.
  • Understanding of device variability, reliability phenomena, and challenges in technology scaling.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or JMP, alongside statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with memory array operations, sensing techniques, and algorithm development.
  • Demonstrated capacity to link device behaviors to system-level effects.
  • Exposure to machine learning, AI, or advanced data analytic techniques.
  • Skill in developing automated data processing pipelines or engineering support tools.
  • A strong curiosity to understand causes behind device behaviors beyond superficial observations.
  • A proactive approach to owning complex challenges across device, process, and product domains.
