Job description

About the Role and Company

Personio is an intelligent HR platform designed to simplify complex and time-consuming tasks for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team of 1,500 is committed to building intuitive products used by over 15,000 customers and 1.5 million employees. We seek a highly skilled web designer with a passion for visual craftsmanship, motion design, and leveraging AI capabilities authentically. This position requires presence in the office for three days a week and is based in Dublin, London, or Munich.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design for web interfaces and digital touchpoints from initial concepts to detailed specifications.
  • Deliver meticulous design quality across typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and motion, ensuring every element is thoughtfully executed.
  • Create high-fidelity interactive prototypes to help the team quickly align, explore complex cases, and minimize ambiguity before development.
  • Incorporate motion design strategically, including micro-interactions and scroll-driven storytelling, to enhance the website and product experience while maintaining performance efficiency.
  • Prioritize accessibility by adhering to WCAG 2.1 AA standards and staying updated with European accessibility laws such as the EAA.
  • Design with consideration for internationalization, accommodating text variations and cultural preferences across markets including Germany, UK, Spain, France, Netherlands, and others.
  • Develop and maintain a web component and template library that underpins consistent and rapid page assembly.
  • Implement AI-driven workflows to support rapid prototyping, automated design-to-code handoffs, and prompt-based layout generation integrated into the CMS.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to enable prompt-to-build workflows that allow repeatable page types to be automatically produced within the CMS using component library building blocks.
  • Document components, usage patterns, and AI prompting frameworks to ensure workflow reproducibility and team-wide accessibility.
  • Design and lead user research initiatives from framing problems to synthesizing findings and delivering actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct usability testing on prototypes and live interfaces while coordinating efforts across different markets.
  • Maintain a dynamic insights repository and serve as the user advocate during design and stakeholder reviews.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in digital, product, or web design, with a portfolio showcasing true visual craftsmanship and user experience design.
  • Proven experience in B2B SaaS environments, understanding the unique design challenges of software marketing and product surfaces.
  • Demonstrated motion design expertise with portfolio pieces featuring animation and interaction, beyond static visuals.
  • Experience developing or contributing to design systems or component libraries.
  • Daily practical experience and fluency with AI design tools like Claude, Figma AI, or equivalents.
  • Passion for integrating AI-assisted workflows with design systems for CMS-driven, prompt-powered page creation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including complex components, variables, auto-layout features, and prototyping.
  • Experience designing for multilingual or multicultural markets.
  • Ability to plan and conduct user research and usability testing independently.
  • Foundational frontend knowledge to engage productively with engineers on implementation details.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with CMS-integrated design systems (e.g., Contentful, Sanity, Webflow), familiarity with user research platforms such as Maze, UserTesting, or Lookback, and fluency in German or Dutch.
