Job description

About Personio and Role Overview

Personio offers an intelligent HR platform that simplifies complex and time-intensive tasks for small and medium-sized businesses. With a team of 1,500 employees, Personio serves over 15,000 customers and their 1.5 million users. This role is based in Berlin, Munich, or Dublin and requires presence in the office for two days per week.

As Senior Analyst — People & Workforce Intelligence (PWI) in the Data, Systems & AI department, you will combine data engineering and analytical delivery. You are responsible for building robust data infrastructure and creating insightful analyses that support strategic decision-making within the People & Workplace Intelligence function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain dbt models for the PWI domain, handling raw data ingestion through all data warehouse layers including staging and reporting, integrating sources like HRIS, headcount, absence, and attendance systems.
  • Design scalable and well-documented Snowflake warehouse schemas with clear data lineage, using Git for version control.
  • Create and maintain metric definitions and semantic layers ensuring consistent KPIs across the people data domain.
  • Implement data quality assurance processes including automated testing, monitoring, and alerting to proactively address issues.
  • Produce structured, actionable analyses on topics such as headcount, attrition, absence, attendance, organizational structure, managerial effectiveness, and compensation, providing decision-ready insights instead of raw data dumps.
  • Develop and uphold user-friendly dashboards and reports that empower stakeholders to self-serve their data needs without constant analyst intervention.
  • Support monthly and quarterly business review cycles by delivering insightful data narratives and owning the story behind the numbers.
  • Collaborate with People Business Partners (PBPs) to identify data inaccuracies, translate urgent requirements into analytical solutions, and enhance data quality continually.
  • Engage proactively as an embedded analytical partner within the PWI function by anticipating needs, sharing early warnings on risks, and communicating insights confidently to People leadership.
  • Facilitate autonomy for PBPs through comprehensive documentation, self-service tools, and direct coaching on data usage.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum five years of combined experience in analytics engineering and analysis, executing both infrastructure builds and data interpretation.
  • Advanced expertise in dbt, including building models from scratch, authoring test cases, managing documentation, and overseeing end-to-end data lineage.
  • Proficiency in SQL for complex query creation and performance tuning within Snowflake environments without supervision.
  • Strong analytical mindset capable of framing ambiguous challenges into testable hypotheses, selecting appropriate metrics, and delivering clear recommendations that inform decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills to convert data insights into accessible language for non-technical audiences, present findings persuasively, and produce effective documentation.
  • Experience with BI tools such as HEX, Tableau, Looker, or comparable platforms for building stakeholder-facing dashboards and reports.
  • Comfortable working with Git and managing version-controlled codebases as a routine practice.
  • Proactive ownership attitude, showing initiative in diagnosing root causes and independently driving tasks forward.
  • Practical experience leveraging AI technologies to enhance workflow efficiency, combined with sound judgment on when manual intervention is necessary.

Additional Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with people-focused HRIS data systems like Workday, BambooHR, or other compensation and benefits software.
  • Python programming skills applied to analytical workflows and automation tasks.
  • Exposure to AI and large language model tools such as Claude or GPT for generating insights or automating processes.

Benefits and Culture

Personio is an inclusive employer committed to diversity and equal opportunities, welcoming individuals regardless of gender, marital status, family situation, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, education, or race. The role requires three days per week at the office with flexibility for remote work for the remaining days, including 20 flexible days per year to work remotely from other locations.

  • Competitive compensation package reviewed annually, including salary, benefits, and pre-IPO equity.
  • 28 vacation days paid annually, increasing by one day at 2 and 4 years of service.
  • One fully paid Impact Day to contribute to environmental or social causes.
  • Generous family leave, child support, mental health assistance, and sabbatical opportunities.
  • Regular community events such as group meals, cultural programs, Summer Sessions, year-end celebrations, as well as healthy snacks and weekly catered lunches.
