Senior Visual Effects Artist

About the Role

CraveFX seeks a Senior Visual Effects Artist experienced in AI-powered video generation and AI-assisted workflows to join their innovative creative team. This position blends traditional VFX techniques with next-generation AI technologies, aiming to advance visual storytelling by integrating classic compositing and animation with generative AI tools such as text-to-video, image-to-video, upscaling, style transfer, and generative asset creation.

The ideal candidate will be adept with Adobe Creative Suites and 3D software like Blender, Maya, and Cinema 4D, as well as proficient in crafting and refining AI model prompts. This role involves defining the studio's vision for AI-native visual effects.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and composite visual effects for various media including film, commercials, and social platforms using both traditional VFX applications and AI platforms (such as Runway, Seedance, Kling, Stable Diffusion/ComfyUI, Midjourney).
• Create and enhance AI-generated content including text-to-video, image-to-video, video-to-video, inpainting, motion brush, and style transfer, integrating these outputs seamlessly into live-action or CG footage.
• Execute rotoscoping and create mattes for clean plate extraction to isolate shot elements for compositing.
• Perform 2D and 3D camera tracking and match moving to integrate CG, AI-generated, or live elements accurately into scenes.
• Composite and finalize shots in After Effects, incorporating traditional VFX, 3D renders, and AI-generated components into polished deliverables.
• Model, build, and animate 3D assets, environments, or simulations in Maya to support AI-assisted VFX shots serving as base plates, depth references, or previz for generative tools.
• Provide on-location supervision during shoots, guiding VFX/AI production needs including tracking markers, clean plates, lighting references, and green/blue screen setups to ensure footage is optimally prepared for post-production.
• Prototype and evaluate new AI models and tools, assessing output quality and consistency, and advise on their incorporation into production pipelines.
• Collaborate with directors, directors of photography, editors, and designers during shoots and post-production to interpret creative briefs into AI-driven visual solutions.
• Identify and resolve challenges common to AI-generated content such as temporal flicker, object consistency, and artifacts, applying necessary post-processing adjustments.
• Maintain well-organized project files, prompt repositories, and documentation for AI tools and workflows to support team accessibility and reuse.
• Keep abreast of developments in AI video technology and proactively introduce new methods and software to enhance team capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable studio and client guidelines regarding AI usage, licensing, and intellectual property.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Visual Effects, Multimedia Design, or a related field.
• Between 2 and 5 years of professional experience in VFX, motion graphics, animation, or related creative production roles.
• Expert-level skills in Adobe Creative Suites, including After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Maya covering 3D modeling, animation, and fundamental rendering.
• Strong foundation in essential VFX pipeline tasks such as rotoscoping, matte and garbage matte creation; 2D and 3D camera tracking/match moving; green/blue screen keying and clean plate work; and basic color matching and grading.
• Experienced in on-set VFX supervision, comfortable advising on tracking markers, clean plates, reference balls/grey cards, and green/blue screen setups.
• Demonstrated practical experience with AI video/image generation tools like Seedance 2.0, Higgsfield, Nano Banana, Google Veo, Runway Gen-3/4, Pika, Kling, OpenAI Sora, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, and Midjourney.
• Understanding of prompt engineering techniques tailored for visual and video generation, including framing, camera language, and style consistency control.
• Ability to integrate AI-generated elements with live-action or computer-generated plates, handling tasks like tracking, color matching, roto, and keying effectively.
• Basic scripting or automation capabilities using Python or node-based tools such as ComfyUI are advantageous.
• A portfolio or demo reel that includes traditional VFX projects along with AI-enhanced visual effects work.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working within 3D/CG pipelines such as Blender, Maya, Houdini and applying AI tools within these workflows.
• Knowledge of creating custom ComfyUI workflows or developing API-based AI generation pipelines.
