Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Virtualization Engineer with a strong focus on VMware and OpenShift administration. This remote-based role, located in Australia, occasionally requires onsite vendor coordination with full travel and accommodation support. You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining VMware and OpenShift platforms, ensuring their optimal operation and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and support VMware and OpenShift clusters in an on-premises environment.
- Continuously monitor cluster health, diagnosing and resolving performance issues.
- Manage user permissions and access controls in OpenShift systems.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline application deployments.
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance application performance within OpenShift.
- Document OpenShift infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures thoroughly.
- Keep abreast of evolving OpenShift and Kubernetes updates and industry best practices.
- Partner with security teams to enforce robust security standards for containerized applications.
- Lead migration initiatives converting VMware environments to OpenShift platforms.
- Effectively manage and maintain the VMware virtualization infrastructure.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 4 years working as an OpenShift Administrator or in a comparable role.
- Deep understanding of OpenShift and Kubernetes architectures and their components.
- Proficient with containerization technologies, especially Docker.
- Experienced in scripting with languages like Bash, Python, or Groovy.
- Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies and related tooling.
- Sound knowledge of networking principles in containerized environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and resilience under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Professional certifications in OpenShift or Kubernetes are advantageous.
- VMware certification(s) would be a valuable asset.
