Job description
Position Overview
We are representing a partner company in search of a Senior Technical Program Manager located in Ireland. This is a remote role within the EMEA region, involving consistent collaboration with a hub in London. The successful candidate will be instrumental in steering complex initiatives within a fast-paced product and engineering organization focused on AI-driven technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and sustain efficient operating cadences that streamline team alignment and decision making with minimal bureaucracy.
- Ensure timely and well-documented decisions with appropriate stakeholder engagement to maintain clear records of rationale.
- Facilitate recurring engineering activities such as planning sessions, daily standups, retrospectives, and demonstrations.
- Manage workback schedules and dependency mappings for multiple releases, integrations, migrations, and cross-functional engineering projects.
- Maintain up-to-date and precise project tracking using tools like Linear, including labeling, estimation, assignment, and status updates.
- Deliver accurate program health insights on active work, production issues, and blockers, enabling stakeholders to monitor progress without extra meetings.
- Proactively identify technical, delivery, and timing risks; challenge unrealistic deadlines; and enforce readiness criteria prior to commitments.
- Lead complex programs end-to-end through defining scope, sequencing work, overseeing delivery, balancing trade-offs, and communicating with stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and handoffs, resolve blockers directly with team leads, and minimize escalation to senior management.
- Utilize a clear escalation framework to categorize programs as on track, at risk, or needing leadership intervention.
- Manage first-response coordination for incidents and client disruptions within your scope, directing issues properly while minimizing undue engineering interruptions.
- Translate technical complexities, risks, and constraints into understandable updates for non-technical audiences, while clarifying business and delivery expectations for engineers.
- Maintain a succinct, dependable portfolio overview for leadership and the broader TPM team, adjusting detail levels as necessary.
- Produce weekly written status reports highlighting program progress, risks, dependencies, and decisions to keep stakeholders and leadership informed.
- Assist product and engineering leaders in tracking and reporting OKRs, ensuring objectives and key results are current and progress is clearly communicated.
- Contribute to the evolution of TPM methodologies, documentation, templates, schedules, and tracking tools for broader organizational adoption.
- Measure success by establishing reliable operational rhythms, trusted planning, timely deliveries, early risk detection, fewer unnecessary escalations, and sustainable program management habits.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of six years’ experience managing Technical Programs, preferably within AI/ML, platform infrastructure, developer tools, or similarly technical domains.
- Proven expertise handling complex programs involving multiple teams, dependencies, and tight external deadlines.
- Strong technical comprehension to accurately discuss system architecture, APIs, integration strategies, technical dependencies, and platform trade-offs without performing engineering tasks.
- Engineering background is highly advantageous, especially for professionals transitioning into technical program management roles.
- Excellent analytical and organizational capabilities to clarify ambiguous requirements, incomplete specs, and conflicting stakeholder views into actionable plans.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication suited to diverse audiences, including succinct executive updates and detailed technical dependencies.
- Sound judgment for prioritization, risk mitigation, escalation procedures, and stakeholder coordination.
- Hands-on, proactive problem-solving style to unblock teams and coordinate efforts, avoiding hierarchical escalations.
- Experience contributing to a developing TPM function with the creation of processes, templates, standards, and operating norms.
- Familiarity with high-growth startup environments is a plus.
- Background in organizations that build and utilize infrastructure for real customer workloads is beneficial.
- Ability to effectively collaborate remotely across EMEA time zones, maintaining regular interaction and overlap with London-based colleagues.
Benefits
- 25 days of paid leave plus public holidays, supported by a flexible time-off policy.
- Comprehensive health insurance and private medical coverage.
- Monthly stipend dedicated to wellness, fitness, and professional development activities.
- Fully remote work setup from your home country within EMEA.
- Enhanced parental leave options for birth, adoption, or surrogacy.
- Access to an office space located in The Shard, London.
- Flexible working hours accommodating diverse schedules.
