About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Tax Associate to enhance and support the tax operations across Saudi Arabia and the broader GCC region. This position is pivotal in overseeing tax compliance, audits, and transfer pricing activities, while effectively collaborating with various teams to ensure full adherence to regulations in a dynamic fintech company experiencing rapid growth.
Core Responsibilities
- Preparing corporate tax, Zakat, VAT, and withholding tax returns accurately and ensuring timely filing and payments according to regulatory deadlines.
- Calculating and documenting monthly and year-end tax provisions to guarantee accuracy and completeness in financial statements.
- Maintaining comprehensive, audit-ready documentation to substantiate tax positions and regulatory filings.
- Managing all activities related to the ZATCA portal, including registration maintenance, submission of returns, and addressing inquiries or notices.
- Providing support for statutory and tax audits through coordination with external auditors and ZATCA representatives, including preparing necessary reconciliations and schedules.
- Keeping abreast of updates to Saudi tax laws (covering Zakat, CIT, VAT, WHT, and e-invoicing requirements) and evaluating implications for the business.
- Ensuring compliance with e-invoicing (FATOORA) standards, working closely with IT and finance departments to accommodate Phase 2 integration.
- Reviewing contracts, invoices, and international transactions to confirm correct withholding tax application and prompt remittance.
- Assisting in preparation of transfer pricing documentation and disclosures relating to related-party dealings as per Saudi regulations.
- Supporting tax-related processes during month-end and year-end closes, including deferred tax calculations where necessary.
- Identifying automation opportunities for tax compliance processes within the existing ERP system to improve efficiency.
- Handling correspondence, assessments, and disputes with ZATCA, and escalating complex issues when required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Two to three years of practical experience in tax compliance or external audit roles, ideally within fintech, banking, or Big Four firms.
- Solid technical expertise in Saudi tax regulations, including Zakat, Corporate Income Tax, VAT, and Withholding Tax.
- Experience executing regulatory filings and submissions to authorities like ZATCA.
- Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA are strongly favored.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions; familiarity with ERP systems, especially Oracle NetSuite, is advantageous.
- Strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive ownership attitude.
- Fluent communication skills in both English and Arabic, in written and spoken forms.
