Senior System Software Engineer

We are seeking a Senior System Software Engineer to join our team in Dubai to work on internally developed global data storage and authentication services based on microservice architecture. This role involves enhancing existing services, building new microservices, and conducting regression, stress, and performance testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in the architectural design of distributed backend systems.
• Support and advance authentication and authorization microservices, primarily using OCaml and Rust.
• Collaborate with clients to offer technical assistance related to APIs and user scenarios.
• Enhance the scope and reliability of unit and integration testing.
• Contribute actively to code review workflows to maintain code quality.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of five years' experience in system programming.
• Proficient in programming and debugging within Linux environments.
• Thorough comprehension of HTTP protocol and RESTful or equivalent RPC protocols such as Twirp or gRPC.
• Experience with multi-threaded and asynchronous network programming frameworks including but not limited to NodeJS, Akka, Tornado, Erlang/OTP, or Rust/Tower.
• Strong practices for verification and documentation of technical work.
• Acquainted with deployment workflows and networking concepts on Kubernetes platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of presenting technical project statuses and outcomes clearly.

Preferred Attributes

• Prior hands-on experience with Cassandra or similar distributed databases, coupled with a keen interest in distributed systems and algorithms.
• Familiarity with modern authentication protocols like OAuth and OpenID Connect, and knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP is a significant advantage.
• Proven experience designing secure systems that manage sensitive data.
• Skilled at debugging and profiling in Linux using tools such as perf, tcpdump/Wireshark, strace, and Valgrind.
• Understanding of functional programming principles and experience with statically typed functional languages like Haskell, OCaml, F#, Scala, or Rust.
