Business Unit and Role Overview

The Buildings Unit (BLD) operates across the UK and Europe providing expertise in Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation, and Water sectors. The Ireland Structures Team works on varied projects including stadiums, hospitals, schools, fire stations, power plants, and shipbuilding regeneration, collaborating with offices in Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Scotland, and northern England.

This role is for a Chartered Engineer skilled in structural design within a consultancy environment. You will contribute to projects across education, transport, industrial, and health sectors by designing with Eurocodes using multiple materials and coordinating multidisciplinary efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design building structures using Eurocodes and materials like concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop design solutions.
• Prepare structural sketches, reports, and specifications.
• Coordinate structural designs with other disciplines utilizing BIM tools.
• Represent the firm during design and site meetings.
• Assist in preparing tender documentation.
• Conduct site inspections and produce corresponding reports.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in structural or civil engineering.
• Chartered membership with IEI, IStructE, or equivalent professional body.
• Proven experience as a structural design engineer on multidisciplinary building projects.
• Familiarity and experience with Eurocode standards.
• Proficient in structural design software packages.
• Competent in MS Word and Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable qualifications and skills:

• Knowledge of BIM tools and their benefits and limitations.
• Understanding of contractual matters and project risk management.
• Project milestone management and issue resolution capabilities.
• Experience collaborating with remote and international colleagues.
• Mentoring abilities for junior team members and recent graduates.
