Senior Storekeeper

Role Overview

This Senior Storekeeper role focuses on managing warehouse activities, overseeing the tracking of heavy construction materials, and supervising inventory at project sites within the construction industry.

Key Duties

• Receive, inspect, and document incoming construction supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Distribute materials to site personnel such as engineers, foremen, and subcontractors following authorized requisitions.
• Maintain precise inventory records both digitally and physically, utilizing ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.
• Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to monitor stock levels, report shortages, and plan timely replenishment to avoid outages.
• Organize warehouse and storage yard layouts in compliance with local health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Supervise receiving, storing, and issuing of materials, ensuring accurate logs and inventory control.
• Coordinate with procurement to replenish items based on demand forecasts and consumption data.
• Optimize storage setups and inventory tracking to maximize space use and ease of material access.
• Implement quality control to inspect goods for damage, accepting only high-quality items into inventory.
• Enforce safety and security policies, including proper handling of hazardous substances and adherence to fire regulations.
• Keep accurate records of inventory movements and prepare management reports as required.
• Manage supplier and vendor relations concerning deliveries, returns, or discrepancies, resolving issues promptly to maintain supply continuity.
• Ensure maintenance and proper servicing of storekeeping equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks for safe operation.
• Identify and apply improvements in store operations to boost efficiency and workflow.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 7 to 10 years’ experience working in warehouse or storekeeping roles within construction, contracting, or civil engineering sectors.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials including civil, electrical, and MEP components.
• Proficiency in computerized inventory management systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Eligibility for a transferable visa under Qatar’s Ministry of Labour for prompt deployment.
