About the Role
ISS International SpA is recruiting a motivated and seasoned Senior Static Equipment Engineer to serve our client in the Fertilizer Industry in Qatar. This position leads engineering efforts on static equipment for capital projects within the Ammonia and Urea Complex, overseeing pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reformer furnace and tubes, and high-pressure urea/carbamate systems from conceptualization through FEED, detailed design, and procurement phases.
The role requires adherence to Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, Process Safety, and Information Security protocols to ensure technical integrity, long-term reliability, and safe execution of capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sizing and selection studies for static equipment during feasibility and concept development phases.
- Establish design philosophies for new units and modifications, ensuring compliance with international codes, process needs, and client standards.
- Encourage innovative static equipment specifications aligned with corporate sustainability objectives.
- Provide advanced technical support during fabrication, inspection, testing, and commissioning to address and prevent structural or material issues.
- Develop equipment lists, design bases, and preliminary datasheets during FEED stages.
- Review licensor and contractor design packages ensuring technical compliance.
- Assess detailed engineering designs, calculations, and drawings during EPC execution and resolve related queries.
- Review vendor calculations, material certifications, and inspection/test plans during fabrication.
- Actively participate in project safety reviews such as HAZOP, SIL, and PSM to mitigate hazards related to static equipment.
- Prepare and assess technical specifications and requisition documents for pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
- Evaluate vendor bids technically during procurement to ensure compliance with ASME, API codes, and company requirements.
- Maintain and update company static equipment design standards and specifications incorporating lessons learned.
- Manage time, cost, and quality parameters across multiple simultaneous projects.
- Coordinate technical interactions with engineering disciplines, procurement, construction contractors, and third-party consultants throughout project lifecycles.
- Mentor and guide Static Equipment Engineers regarding project scopes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 8 to 12 years of experience in static equipment engineering, preferably within ammonia and urea projects.
- Familiar with new equipment specification, bid evaluations, and vendor design reviews.
- Preferred to hold API 510, 570, or 653 certifications.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII and procurement processes.
- Proficient with engineering software such as AutoCAD, PV Elite, and CAESAR II.
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
