Job description
Job Overview
ISS International SpA Qatar Branch is recruiting a Workshop Safety Officer for a Fertilizer Project based in Mesaieed, Al Wakrah, Qatar. This position requires extensive expertise in industrial safety, particularly in environments involving electrical, welding, instrument, and machine shop operations within the fertilizer, petrochemical, or manufacturing industries.
Educational & Language Requirements
- Must hold a NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), or a Diploma in Industrial Safety Engineering from an accredited institute or university.
- Fluent in English, able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Proficient in computer applications.
Experience
- Between 10 and 15 years of proven experience in safety management related to electrical work, welding, instrument handling, and machine shop safety within GCC regions.
- Specific background in fertilizer, petrochemical, or manufacturing sector safety preferred.
Core Technical Expertise
- Machine Guarding: Ensuring all machinery is equipped with adequate physical barriers—fixed, interlocked, or adjustable—to prevent inadvertent contact with moving components.
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): Administering energy isolation protocols during maintenance and repairs to prevent unintentional machine activation.
- Point-of-Operation Safety: Understanding hazards linked to cutting, shearing, or material shaping processes.
- PPE Management: Supervising the use of specialized protective equipment such as impact-resistant eye protection and enforcing compliance to avoid wearing loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts.
