About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer specializing in iOS to join our Global Sports Tech team in Bangalore. This team powers the streaming, content delivery, and engagement experiences for major sports brands including Bleacher Report, Eurosport, and TNT Sports, touching millions of fans globally.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic architectural decisions across the WBD Sports platform, with a broad function-wide perspective on technical solutions and their lasting impact.
• Translate business and product requirements into engineering projects independently, managing initiatives from start to finish with minimal supervision.
• Act as a pivotal influencer in shaping sports platform strategy through both tactical work and long-range vision.
• Implement robust test coverage, resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational excellence practices across sports offerings.
• Communicate complex technical designs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and document these solutions effectively.
• Advocate for engineering best practices and contribute actively in Agile ceremonies, taking ownership throughout sprint cycles.
• Develop and sustain highly available, low-latency systems that reliably deliver sports content in production environments.
• Integrate monitoring, alerting, and documentation alongside software delivery to ensure system health.
• Mentor and coach engineers up to senior level, providing feedback on skill development and growth to leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 13 years’ experience designing and building scalable iOS applications, demonstrating strong expertise in Swift and SwiftUI.
• Solid comprehension of software design patterns and architecture, including VIP, Dependency Injection, and SOLID principles.
• Proficient in GraphQL with deep understanding of schema design, fragment handling, and client-server coordination.
• Advanced skills in Test-Driven Development, unit and integration testing methods, and setting testing standards for large, complex apps.
• Expertise in networking, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, and use of Swift Package Manager.
• Ability to convert intricate design concepts into modular, maintainable components using tools like Figma.
• Experience in maintaining sizable modular codebases across multiple development teams.
• Strong skills in creating effective APIs and data transport mechanisms.
• Performance tuning and monitoring expertise tailored for high-traffic applications.
• Proven ability to operate autonomously, managing complex projects with little oversight and delivering substantial functional impact.
• Excellent communication skills demonstrated through technical documentation and collaboration with diverse teams.
• Demonstrated leadership in technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and fostering cross-team cooperation.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Apollo GraphQL or comparable frameworks.
• Familiarity with design tokens.
• Background in sports, media, or entertainment technology platforms.

Technical Environment

• Primary languages and frameworks: Swift, SwiftUI.
• Development practices include Test-Driven Development, pair programming, code reviews, and CI/CD deployment.
• Deployment automation via Github Actions and Firebase App Distribution.
• Backend technologies involve GraphQL, dependency injection, and asynchronous programming patterns.
• Agile methodologies are followed, including daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
