About the Role
Join Stryker as a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer contributing to groundbreaking, early-stage research projects aimed at medical technologies 5–10 years from market launch. This challenging position suits inquisitive and self-motivated engineers passionate about resolving complex problems and influencing the future landscape of medical devices.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead research, design, development, and evaluation of subsystems, modules, and assemblies.
- Independently apply advanced engineering principles and mentor peers in these areas.
- Translate user requirements into detailed design specifications and create complex system-level designs.
- Design, select, and conduct advanced prototyping and testing processes.
- Lead the resolution of sophisticated product design challenges.
- Drive technology exploration influencing business applications and contribute to intellectual property creation including patents.
- Provide insights into competitive market dynamics to inform strategy and product development.
- Leverage clinical procedure knowledge to guide design decisions enhancing product effectiveness.
- Participate in customer-centric activities such as voice of customer and design collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Show financial understanding relating to project and product development.
- Mentor colleagues in the integration of medical device industry standards and regulatory compliance in design and testing.
- Lead creation and refinement of engineering documentation, including Design History Files, with advanced technical details.
- Collaborate across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to maximize project outcomes.
- Identify and lead initiatives to improve procedures, systems, and technology within the organization.
- Develop prototypes using diverse methodologies and contribute to product releases by leading technical areas of expertise.
- Drive high-quality results with energy and accountability, fostering team development and inspiring innovation.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build partnerships and meet business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering field plus a minimum of 6 years professional experience.
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience optimizing complex mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies considering design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and models with GD&T application and using CAE tools for design improvements.
- Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies supporting advanced product development.
- Excellent ability to clearly communicate complex technical information and plans to diverse team members.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers an annual salary range of €62,000 to €105,000 depending on experience. In addition to base salary, eligibility for incentive pay such as bonuses or commissions exists, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
