Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Overview

This position requires a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to independently conduct research, design, and development for medical device components and modules. The role involves translating design requirements into detailed engineering specifications and producing subsystem designs. You will prototype various solutions to validate concepts, applying both fundamental and advanced engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct design and development tasks with minimal supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Translate customer and design inputs into precise engineering documentation and subsystems.
• Prototype and analyze multiple design solutions to demonstrate proof of concept.
• Apply both basic and specialized engineering problem-solving techniques.
• Understand and incorporate customer needs and clinical procedures into design decisions.
• Gain insight into financial models related to product development.
• Comply with medical device industry standards, design controls, risk management, and quality management procedures.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including the Design History File independently.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to ensure project objectives are met.
• Quickly assimilate new procedures, systems, and technologies necessary for success.
• Take ownership, prioritize tasks effectively, and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Build strong working relationships and contribute as a core team member.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related engineering field.
• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in relevant engineering roles.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Solid grasp of mechanical engineering design principles and practices.
• Proficiency creating detailed engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAE tools.
• Knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes as they relate to product design.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and design plans within a team.
• Experience collaborating with manufacturing facilities and understanding their requirements.

Compensation and Additional Information

• Competitive annual salary range in Ireland: €47,000 to €77,000 EUR.
• Compensation includes a base salary with the potential for incentive pay such as bonuses or commissions depending on the role.
