Role Overview
This Senior Software Engineer position is a hands-on backend role with significant responsibility and autonomy. Candidates will independently manage technical ownership across design, implementation, testing, and deployment. The team embraces modern software development methods including AI coding agents, used to improve code quality rather than just accelerate output. The environment is a small, high-trust team offering impactful work and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Converting product needs into comprehensive technical designs and managing delivery from start to finish.
- Architecting significant enhancements to core products, including APIs, services, and databases.
- Producing well-structured, high-quality Python code and conducting meticulous code reviews.
- Overseeing and critiquing AI coding agent outputs to maintain standards.
- Monitoring application metrics and error reporting.
- Providing mentorship to junior team members.
- Participating in architectural decisions and influencing engineering processes.

Candidate Profile
A highly skilled engineer who values pragmatic decisions, balancing timely delivery with code quality and refactoring discipline. This role is challenging, designed for someone excited by technical ownership.
Essential Qualifications
- Over 8 years of professional development experience in product or SaaS environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming.
- Experience with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Expertise handling large-scale data and high-volume systems.
- Full-stack engineering experience including development, deployment, production debugging, and maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Proven capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Practical knowledge of AI coding tools and agents.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with Flask web framework, AWS cloud services, Pytest, CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Terraform, and experience customizing AI agents.
- Experience working in fast-paced startup or scale-up environments, comfortable with ambiguity and proactive problem-solving.
