Position Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of an agile product team responsible for developing scalable core services and customer portals primarily utilizing Python, React, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role involves leading a critical strategic project focused on migrating an external application into the company's ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with existing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery, architectural design, and solution planning for bringing an external application in-house.
• Develop clean, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested software using Python and React for core systems and customer-facing portals.
• Manage continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, automate testing procedures, and guarantee secure, high-performance deployment on cloud platforms.
• Provide mentorship to junior developers, conduct peer reviews, and foster improvements in Agile methodologies within the team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of seven years in software engineering roles demonstrating effective Agile collaboration.
• Expertise in Python programming and React development frameworks.
• Proficiency in cloud technologies, particularly GCP and/or Microsoft Azure, including experience with cloud computing, APIs, and containerized environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or commensurate professional experience.

Preferred Skills

• Practical experience handling code migration or in-housing projects is advantageous.
• Familiarity with .NET technologies, along with strong CI/CD and DevOps skills.
• Interest or experience in leveraging artificial intelligence tools to enhance software development workflows.

Work Environment and Additional Information

This position is office-based, requiring team members to work from the Christchurch office at least three days per week.
