About the Role and Organization

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Identity for Services (ID4S) team, part of Microsoft Entra, you will contribute to creating robust authentication and authorization solutions. The team’s goal is to simplify and secure identity validation processes, reduce errors, prevent security incidents, and provide operational insights. Their technology supports thousands of Microsoft internal services and offers open-source components. The main authentication SDK uses .NET, emphasizing performance, extensibility, and minimal resource consumption, with a growing focus on AI-powered tools to accelerate development and improve quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain authentication and authorization components targeting multiple platforms, predominantly .NET; experience with Rust, Java, Golang, Python, or Node.js is advantageous.
- Work collaboratively with diverse teams including leadership, product management, service owners, and platform groups to deliver quality solutions.
- Leverage both quantitative and qualitative data insights to guide product decisions.
- Assist service owners to enable effective integration and operational excellence.
- Engage actively in code reviews, design discussions, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of authentication libraries.
- Incorporate AI-assisted development methods to boost development velocity and software quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
- Proficient with programming in one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Experience working with distributed services.
- Preferred: Experience developing SDKs and/or building highly scalable services.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization protocols like OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML.
- Demonstrated expertise in .NET framework.
Additional Information
The role requires compliance with Microsoft and government security clearance standards, including passing a Microsoft Cloud Background Check initially and every two years thereafter. The position remains open for a minimum of five days and will accept applications continuously until filled.
Salary range for this role in Ireland typically falls between €77,400 and €130,000 annually, with eligibility for various benefits and additional compensation.
