Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at MinIO, you will take end-to-end ownership of complex engineering challenges rarely tackled elsewhere. There are no bureaucratic hurdles—no ticket queues, stand-ups, or approvals needed. You'll work alongside highly skilled engineers, all contributors, architects, and leads, fostering a collaborative environment that values deep ownership and craft.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Contribute directly to the codebase to solve challenging problems from ground zero.
- Drive projects independently without requiring permissions or oversight.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers who share a passion for quality and innovation.
Key Competencies and Experience
- Proficient at a deep level with operating system fundamentals and internals.
- Strong understanding of networking starting from the socket layer upwards.
- Experienced with memory management, concurrency challenges, and ensuring correctness in complex systems, coupled with the humility to adapt your views.
- Advanced debugging skills—capable of resolving elusive bugs that others cannot reproduce.
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages (minimum two), with an honest approach to their trade-offs.
- Perseverance to initiate difficult tasks and see them through to completion.
- A curious mindset that continually seeks to learn and understand more.
- Commitment to producing code that teammates will respect and maintain.
- Expertise in systems domains including Operating Systems, Networking, Systems Programming, Distributed Systems, Storage Engines, Vector/Graph Retrieval algorithms, Low-Latency I/O, and Protocol Design.
