The position emphasizes the next generation of quality assurance driven by artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on intelligent automation and AI-powered testing tools.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing AI agents that assist in various stages of testing, including creation, execution, upkeep, assessment, and failure analysis. This role merges hands-on software development with responsibilities across test infrastructure, distributed environments, continuous integration on a large scale, and cutting-edge large language model (LLM) technologies.

The engineer will empower product teams to take direct responsibility for software quality by offering robust tools, patterns, and best practices rather than serving only as a traditional QA safety net. Additionally, they will drive the advancement of AI-driven testing evaluation strategies, particularly for non-deterministic AI components.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and operate AI-driven agents throughout the testing lifecycle, including test design, generation, upkeep, execution, and failure troubleshooting.
• Manage robust infrastructure to ensure reliable agent-assisted testing, covering areas such as test environments, test data, tooling interfaces, safety parameters, runtime controls, and cost management.
• Implement dependable methodologies to assess the quality of agent outputs, enabling engineering teams to trust automated outcomes without extensive manual verification.
• Apply AI-based evaluation frameworks to test the platform’s internal non-deterministic and AI-enhanced features.
• Collaborate closely with product teams during feature development to maintain relevance and effectiveness of testing tools aligned with real product requirements.
• Create reusable testing frameworks, tools, and enablement methods that facilitate engineers’ autonomous ownership of quality assurance.
• Promote and drive adoption of quality engineering tools and practices across teams beyond direct reporting lines.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, system design improvements, and ongoing enhancement of testing infrastructure and engineering methodologies.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of five years’ experience in professional software engineering with proven delivery of production-level software.
• Proficiency in building and owning test infrastructure, developer-centric tools, internal platforms, or similar engineering support systems.
• Hands-on familiarity with large language models (LLMs) or AI agent frameworks, including designing prompts and contexts, managing non-deterministic AI behavior, and evaluating AI-generated content.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalable continuous integration, with expertise in managing concurrency, system state, timing complexities, and reliability.
• Proven ability to influence and persuade engineering teams without direct management authority, successfully encouraging adoption of tools or best practices.
• Strong aptitude and willingness to gain detailed product understanding to engineer effective quality assurance solutions.
• Excellent judgment balancing software quality, maintainability, delivery timelines, and business considerations.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills suited for a cross-functional, distributed work environment.
• Preferred: Experience with LLM evaluation or benchmarking, open-source contributions, and developer tooling or platform engineering.
• Advantageous experience includes working with Java, TypeScript, Python, Kubernetes, and Helm.

• Annual total cash compensation in the United States ranges from $143,800 to $231,900, varying by market, location, skillset, experience, and qualifications.
