Role Overview

The organization is expanding its development capacity and seeks a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Java to join the Betting Product Technology team based in Melbourne. The role involves designing, building, and refining scalable backend services and platforms, while raising engineering standards within the team. This senior position requires technical ownership, addressing complex challenges, and mentoring junior engineers to elevate team capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable backend systems and platforms ensuring performance and reliability.
• Produce high-quality software prioritizing maintainability and operational excellence.
• Lead technical architecture and provide solutions to intricate business problems.
• Manage and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated test suites, and DevOps processes.
• Support and mentor junior team members to bolster technical skills and promote best engineering practices.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated senior engineering experience with proven ability to mentor less experienced colleagues.
• Extensive expertise in Java, Spring Boot framework, distributed systems, microservices architectures, and event-driven systems.
• Proficiency with messaging and streaming platforms like Kafka.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services, including EC2, ECS, VPC, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and RDS.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, automated testing, observability solutions, secure coding techniques, and engineering tools such as Docker, Jenkins, and Ansible.
