Job description
Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at the Digital Ops-Tech Centre (DOTC) under the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), you will lead the creation of impactful digital solutions in an environment similar to a technology startup. The DOTC is dedicated to leveraging innovative technologies and industry best practices in software engineering to enhance SAF's operational capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture partnerships with various stakeholders and governmental agencies.
- Oversee the planning and management of development roadmaps for both new initiatives and existing digital products.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the operational challenges and needs faced by SAF users across different services.
- Design, develop, rigorously test, and maintain scalable and efficient software applications covering the complete technology stack.
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive team culture that supports peers and encourages innovation.
- Ensure that software engineering practices adhere to high standards while delivering results that make significant impacts.
Challenges to Expect
- Stay updated on cutting-edge digital trends and evaluate how emerging technologies can be applied within SAF for transformative improvements.
- Collaborate extensively with multiple stakeholders to create digital tools that effectively balance security, stability, and performance in complex operational scenarios.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses educational background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Data Analytics, or Artificial Intelligence.
- Brings a minimum of 6 years of software development experience with exposure to large-scale software systems.
- Demonstrates expertise in modern full-stack web application development.
- Shows a strong commitment to engineering excellence and a cooperative, team-focused development methodology.
- Expresses passion for developing technology aimed at public service and societal benefit.
