About Motional and the Role
Motional is a forward-thinking company dedicated to advancing autonomous vehicle technology with a commitment to safety, inclusivity, and transformative transportation solutions. The Data Platform team is essential in bridging vast data assets and engineering teams, constructing and managing the foundational data services that empower machine learning and autonomy efforts. This team transforms petabytes of raw data monthly into actionable insights critical for innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the next generation of scalable data infrastructure.
- Develop backend services focused on data discovery and data lineage systems to improve data accessibility and usage tracking.
- Craft high-quality, maintainable code capable of processing massive volumes of data.
- Lead system design efforts and contribute to technical code reviews to uphold software quality.
- Build and sustain scalable cloud-based ETL pipelines and data access services.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least three years in data engineering or similar roles involving data pipelines.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL programming languages.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services such as EKS, Lambda, and ETL tools.
- Experience designing and developing distributed systems.
- Aptitude to thrive in a fast-paced, continuous delivery work environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools.
- History of working in cross-functional teams.
- Background in agentic workflow development is advantageous.
- Prior work in autonomous vehicle technology is a plus.
