In collaboration with Amazon Web Services, we co-developed Diverge, a cloud-native data platform that powers our efforts as New Zealand's largest electricity and gas distributor.

We are expanding our team at Vector Technology Services (VTS) and seeking a Senior Software Developer passionate about shaping the future of energy. Whether you're an experienced senior developer aiming for leadership growth or an intermediate developer ready to advance, this role offers exciting challenges and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop software primarily using Java, including frontend tasks with frameworks like React and infrastructure automation using Terraform.
• Collaborate with global partners such as AWS to create and maintain valuable software systems serving an international customer base.
• Work within a stable, agile product-focused team, contributing ideas on development priorities and methodologies.
• Implement and promote Test Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), and automated deployment processes for efficient software delivery.
• Gain experience and work with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, among others.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong backend software development expertise, particularly in Java and Spring Framework, coupled with tools and processes that ensure software quality.
• Proficiency with AWS cloud services and experience architecting and deploying serverless solutions.
• Solid understanding of DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) best practices and tools.
• A passion for problem-solving and eagerness to continuously learn and grow.
• Demonstrated team-oriented mindset with a caring and supportive attitude towards colleagues.

The Diverge Platform

• A customizable managed SaaS platform for energy data ingestion, processing, insight generation, and delivery.
• Built entirely on AWS serverless services, ensuring scalable, reliable, and resilient enterprise-grade operations.
• Managed through infrastructure-as-code, automated releases, and orchestrated services.
• Handles streaming data processing with state, temporal sequence, and data dependency awareness.
