About the Team

The Database Engineering team operates globally, providing continuous operational support to customer environments. This team pioneers the evaluation and deployment of cutting-edge technologies to guarantee scalable, reliable, and secure production-ready services.

Role Responsibilities

This position involves managing extensive MySQL and open-source database systems across both production and development platforms. You will contribute to on-call rotations addressing critical production challenges, drive automation initiatives to boost scalability and uptime, and architect current and upcoming database services.

Required Qualifications

• Over 7 years managing enterprise-scale databases for cloud applications.
• At least 3 years utilizing MySQL and/or PostgreSQL on private and public cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
• Experience with managed cloud databases including AWS Aurora and Google Cloud SQL, covering architecture principles like replication, clustering, high availability, disaster recovery, and backup solutions.
• Strong background as a Database Engineer/Architect/Developer Reliability Engineer managing Linux-based clustered open-source and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Riak).
• Proficiency in Python or Go programming languages along with secondary scripting skills (Shell, Ruby).
• Sound knowledge of Linux operating systems and containerized environments.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, continuous integration and deployment pipelines, plus infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Git, Jenkins, and Argo.
• Demonstrated ability supporting mission-critical production workloads in open-source databases.
• Proven history working in high availability, mission-critical production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth familiarity with MySQL GTID, group replication, and Galera High Availability solutions, including ecosystem tools like Orchestrator, Percona MHA/Galera, Vitess, Ceph, Gluster, and Pure Storage.
• Comprehensive understanding of Infrastructure-as-a-Service capacity management across AWS, GCP, and private clouds.
• Experience with development and issue tracking tools such as GitHub, Jira, and Confluence, coupled with excellent technical communication and documentation capabilities.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
