Job description
Position Overview
CGI is looking for a seasoned Senior Security Architect to deliver expert cybersecurity architecture, provide technical direction, and design secure solutions. The role involves defining secure solution frameworks, evaluating technology risks, and ensuring cybersecurity measures are embedded within infrastructure, applications, networks, and data platforms through their lifecycle.
Work Location and Schedule
The position is based on-site in Dartmouth/Halifax, Nova Scotia, requiring attendance five days per week.
Security and Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must have been Canadian residents for at least five years to meet assignment requirements, and be eligible for Reliability and/or Secret-level security clearance and compliance with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop cybersecurity architectures, standards, and security patterns.
- Oversee security architecture for networks, infrastructure, cloud, applications, and data.
- Conduct detailed security architecture reviews and risk assessments.
- Identify cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and risks; propose control measures and mitigation strategies.
- Create and track security requirements throughout solution design and deployment phases.
- Implement principles of defence-in-depth, least privilege, and zero trust.
- Define and manage security controls including identity/access management, privileged access, network segmentation, encryption, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, and endpoint defense.
- Participate in technical design review and architectural governance boards.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, network architects, infrastructure teams, application developers, project leaders, and security operations teams.
- Evaluate new technologies, products, and vendor solutions for cybersecurity compliance.
- Support activities related to vulnerability management, security monitoring, and incident response.
- Ensure adherence to client, contractual, and Government of Canada cybersecurity requirements.
- Develop security architecture documentation, technical risk reports, standards, and security designs.
- Lead and mentor cybersecurity and project teams with technical guidance.
- Drive ongoing improvements to cybersecurity architecture and organizational security posture.
Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of IT experience with significant involvement in cybersecurity architecture, engineering, or security design.
- Proven capability in designing security solutions within complex enterprise environments.
- In-depth understanding of security architecture concepts, including defence-in-depth, least privilege, and zero-trust models.
- Strong familiarity with network security, infrastructure security, endpoint protection, identity management, application security, and data security.
- Proficiency in performing security assessments, threat modelling, and technical risk evaluations.
- Knowledge of major cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and CIS Controls.
- Experience or awareness of Government of Canada IT security standards is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with IAM/PAM, SIEM platforms, vulnerability management, firewalls, endpoint security solutions, and encryption.
- Expertise or knowledge in cloud and hybrid-cloud security is a plus.
- Certifications like CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or SABSA are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling clear conveyance of security risks to both technical teams and executive leadership.
- Background in defense, federal government, shipbuilding, or security-sensitive sectors is preferred.
Compensation and Employment Details
This role offers a pay range estimate from $75,000 to $145,000 annually, varying based on skills, market, experience, certifications, and training. It is a full-time, on-site opportunity located in Dartmouth/Halifax, Nova Scotia.
