Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior R&D Technician to become an integral part of our Product R&D Engineering team based in Auckland. This role is suited to a proactive, technically skilled professional passionate about pioneering product development and working alongside engineers to validate and qualify cutting-edge technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development and validation of new products by performing rigorous testing, measurements, and data analysis.
- Set up, operate, and maintain various test and measurement instruments essential for product qualification and engineering assessments.
- Design and implement testing procedures, fixtures, and methodologies to ensure comprehensive evaluation.
- Conduct thorough product, process, and reliability testing with meticulous recording and documentation of results.
- Analyze test data and generate detailed technical reports to inform engineering decisions.
- Assist with prototype assembly, product evaluations, and coordinate product qualification programs.
- Participate actively in root cause analyses and contribute to formulating corrective and preventive solutions.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Identify enhancements for testing techniques, data analysis processes, and overall product development workflows.
- Promote a culture emphasizing innovation, safety, and ongoing process improvements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering is mandatory.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in product development or testing within a high-volume manufacturing setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electronic principles and capability to interpret detailed technical drawings, specifications, and testing requirements.
- Proficiency operating test and measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
- Strong analytical aptitude with expertise in data interpretation and clear presentation of insights.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, for detailed data analysis and reporting.
- Organized, methodical problem solver with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills fostering effective teamwork.
- Self-driven with a keen eye for accuracy and detail.
