About the Role
The Public Affairs division at 1&1 AG, with offices in Berlin and Brussels, operates at the interface of politics, business, regulation, and the critical issues surrounding digital transformation. In a geopolitical and dynamically regulated landscape, the team actively advocates for innovation-friendly and competitive frameworks, focusing primarily on telecommunications, data, and cybersecurity. The role involves shaping political discussions around digital sovereignty and future-proof digital infrastructure across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with political decision-makers and relevant stakeholders at federal and state levels, expanding your strategic network.
- Manage the content and strategy of political meetings and appointments, including preparation and follow-up.
- Develop and oversee targeted public affairs strategies within your assigned topics.
- Analyze and monitor political and regulatory developments, particularly legislative procedures and regulatory activities, deriving actionable options.
- Prepare well-founded positions and statements in close collaboration with relevant corporate units and departments, representing these to political stakeholders.
- Ensure regular and tailored reporting on political developments.
- Represent the company in associations, committees, and at political or industry events.
- Design and manage external events and political formats.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completed master's degree in economics, political science, law, or a comparable qualification.
- Several years of relevant professional experience in political advocacy, whether in companies, associations, institutions, or political settings.
- Proven expertise in engaging with political institutions at the federal and/or state level, along with a strong network of political decision-makers.
- Preferably experienced in the European regulatory environment or collaboration with EU institutions.
- Strong strategic insight with the capacity to identify, interpret, and translate political and regulatory changes into concrete recommendations early.
- Excellent analytical skills to clearly prepare complex topics for different audiences.
- Team player with strong stakeholder management skills; adept at aligning diverse company interests and presenting them consistently externally.
- Experience confidently representing corporate positions to political decision-makers and negotiating within the political arena.
- High political judgment, discretion, and sensitivity in handling confidential matters.
- Great self-responsibility, structured working style, and strong prioritization abilities for simultaneous topics.
- Excellent communication skills with a confident and persuasive presence.
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
